Hi All,

I am in a strange situation.I did my masters degree in US and after 8-10 months in OPT with out work i got a job and worked for a company for about 9 months on H1B petition. Then I came to india for a visit and went to Chennai consulate for H1B stamping.I was given 221(g) asking me to submit bank statements. In the mean time I got a good offer in india itself and and i din't go back to the chennai consulate with the bank statement.

Now after 2 months my new employer in india wants me to go to US on B1 visa for about a month.I got a early appointment in kolkata consulate and went there. There I got 1 more 221(g) telling that since my application is on hold in chennai, the kolkata consulate can't issue a visa and I need to go back to chennai for further processing!

I thought since these are 2 different visas(one is H1 and another B1),it should not be a problem.

I am in a confusion now.Can any one please advise or suggest how to proceed?

Thanks,
Ram kumar.

US visa procedures B/F/H/L all in one centralized system. Whereever you go the system will bring your entire history even after 50 yrs.
Close the 221(g) pending issue first, before moving further.

Make sure your present employer knows about this pending H1.
Since H is dual intent and B is strictly non-immigrant, you might have to answer some questions when you get your B interview.
You may need to talk to your company attorneys on how best to handle this.

great guru and max2k1,

Thanks to both of you for ur sincere advises.I went to chennai consulate and had a interview for nearly half hour during which the officer asked me every possible questions and documents.Fortunately,in the end i was issued 10 year valid B1 visa!

Once again thanks,

Peter.
