My question is for guys , who had interview in a local office , or receive letter for interview and waiting.
I did InfoPass today , and was told that my letter for interview appointment has been mailed on Dec 6.I did not receive it (lost in a mail ?), and IO print a copy for me with attachment.
According letter I must bring checked (X ) items ----"see X attached".
The problem is this attachment is a standard form (G-56) and half things not applicable for me.Also there is no
single X (checked ) item.After I realize this , like after 3min , I went back to the same window/same IO lady
,and ask for my personal attachment , with few checked items , that applied for me ONLY.She said there is no such kind of attachment , and I need to bring everything , that applicable to me , and ignore the rest of list.
I had strong feeling , that she is mistaking , and ask her to look at my paper file again, she answer , that she know what she is telling. I still thinking she is wrong.
Here is my question:
1.Did you receive just standard G-56 Attachment , with out X marks , like i have?
2.Anybody got attachment with a few items mark with X ? is it on form G-56 or different form?

Hope to here asap , thanks in advance!
Good luck to all of you!

They do such a small number of asylee adjustment interviews that it is understandable that they do not have a special list for asylees.

Tell us what are on the list and we can probably let you know which are applicable.

I had an interview at the local office. Take with you

1. All the tax returns that you can find.
2. Marriage/divorce papers.
3. Anything pertaining to your original asylum case.

They may ask you during the interview if you have a passport, do not be alarmed, this is usually because they want to stamp your GC on it.

You will be asked questions directky from your Bio. &/or I-485 forms (i.e. dates of arrival/dept.). If you are not sure of the date, just say around xxx.

Just relax, and all will be o.k.

good luck!

I had my interview a couple of months ago, they asked for a lot of things in the interview letter, which did not relate to my case! I re-did my medical exams, for example, but the IO did not even ask for it. Also, they mentioined in the letter that my interview will be videotaped, but I did not see any vidoe cameras.

I'd sugget taking: 1) employment letter, 2) tax returns for the last 3 years, 3) birth certificate (or 2 affidavits of birth), 3) any other thing that you think they will ask you for.

They asked me a few questions directly from my I-485 application. The interview lasted only 15 minutes and it was not stressfull.

Hope that helps.

Question

Hi gino

I have questions... why did you have a local interview?. How long did it take from the letter that you recieved when your case was sent to a local office? Are you derived asylum? Do you get your green card? Did they stamp your passport on the interview?

I am derived asylum. I have my case in local office now. I am scare about next steps...

I would like to know something from someone had the same experience.

Thanks

Thanks guys for info!
jupise, it takes arround 2-2.5 months to get letter for interview , i recomend you time from time visit office (do infopass online).my letter has been lost on mail , they gave me a copy at office , so , without visiting office to check status , i'll most likely missed my interview!
why you scare?if without reasons , bring your husband with you , just to hold your hands!
good luck to u and all guys here!!!!!!!!

We don't need work permit any more , you can replace social security card with new one (without restriction). Please search this forum , I remember lots of useful information posted around 2 month ago .Basically go to SS office with asylum approval letter . Don't waist money on useless work permit!Good luck!

Mr.ClevelandOH, I diged some old posts and would like to share with you.

"---The first question sthey asked me were directly from the original application...the one w/yes and no answeres (like are u now or have been in deportation....are you a member of a terrorist organization, etc...).
----nothing about "Changed country conditions" , or if i have ever renewed my passport, but he did ask me if i have a passport so he can stamp the visa on it. "

"Hey Everyone, I just got a temporary stamp in my renewed NP passport today! My I-485 was approved the end of November 4 days before my finger prints would expire. The officer asked me if I renewed my NP and I said, "yes, twice." He said can I see your new passport I said, "sure." He asked, "Would you like me to stamp your passport or would you like me to issue you an I-94 card with your picture on it." I said, "stamp the passport please." After he stamped the passport I asked him if renewing NP as an asylee or refugee is a crime and he said, "No." In my passport he clearly wrote AS6. I also asked if it's a problem during citizenship interview. He said, he never heard of a citizenship being denied on the grounds of renewing your NP. He also finger printed me and took my photographs for my green card. He's worked in CIS for a while."

Hi iswaiting,

So if you get us visa stamps on your NP, you can go visit your COP with your NP? I get confuse here. I thought as an asylee we are not suppose to renew our NP. I went to visit my family not at COP, but my family traveled to other country to see me. This is long time ago before I have my GC. At the sfo airport the IO asked me if I went back to COP? The IO told me that I can't visit my COP until I get my USC. Which one is right?
My father 70th birthday is coming soon, I really want to visit him.., but I don't know if I can get vacation....
