Need help finishing my interview outfit. Ladies??

Got my interview outfit all figured out but not the shoes. I'm planning on wearing a casual Summer business suit which is nice and classy but not business stuffy. My dilemma are the shoes. All I have are sandals which I wear all year long. Collection includes flats, low heels, mid heels, and high heels. Feet and toes are always neat and nicely pedicured. So, would it be acceptable to wear some classy sandals to the interview? We are talking about no socks or stocking. BTW, I would not prefer to buy any shoes which are closed in since I would never wear them again anyway. :D Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

ok lady :)
having worked for a gov. agency, i can tell you, closed toes shoes was always a must, that is why for my interview on june 12th i plan on wearing business black pants, white shirt, and flat shoes, even though it will be warm. you can always hit marshalls or tjmaxx and get a pair of shoes for under 30 bucks and then give those away. but had i not worked there, i would have not known this, so I would have probably opted for sandals as well.
good luck

Nimche and vlorak, thanks for your input. Even though I'm not too happy about wearing closed toes shoes, I shall get a pair. :( I'll wear my sandals until I get to the outside of the building and then change into the uncomfortable stuff. My husband can hold on to the sandals in a plastic bag while I get interviewed, and once I leave, I can put on my sandals again. :D:D:D:D

What about the rest of the outfit; do I need to wear dark stuff? The slacks I have are a linen color, tank top is black, and jacket is a soft rose color with 3/4 sleeves. Hope I don't have to dig out my navy blue suit which I had gotten for my father-in-law's funeral.

Thank you.:):):)

no no, your outfit sounds really nice. you don't have to wear business clothes. linen pants, light color, and then black top sounds great. get black shoes and there you go. :)
i know i have my outfit selected as well. need to make sure shirt doesn't need ironing or else i'll have to go get another one :)
good luck to you

Maybe you are fretting too much as my wife did for her interview. Once we arrived there we saw people in all kinds of outfits including guys in shorts, tshirts and flip flops and ladies in jeans and tshirts. It seems that if your application has problems no amount of dressing will work and if yours is a straightforward case and you answer all questions correctly the outfit does not matter.

So don't worry too much -- just wear an outfit that you feel comfortable and represents who you are rather than trying to be someone else.

While we are on the subject, what is a recommended interview outfit for guys ? Is a business casual dress okay or is a suit/jacket recommended ? What about ties ?

Business casual is pretty standard with a navy blue jacket. Ties are not needed. But not everyone comes to an interview directly from home. Some people come from work and you can often see people in suits and ties. Dress code is specified only for the oath ceremony but still it is a good idea to dress conservatively for all interactions with officers.

couple of months ago at payless shoestore I bought a pair of comfortable closed toe sandals on a stable high heel (you know a bit wider then stilettos) for job interviews

they feel light - like sandals but with long pants - look formal enough for strictest eyes

they were on sale for only 14$ and so far didn't fall apart and looks like they're gonna last at least a year (till fashion changes anyway).

sort of this shape but higher

from my experience - shoes comfort depends more on how shape of shoe matches your foot arch, width etc, rather then style or openness. all my most comfortable pairs especially high heels - felt very good from first 5 seconds of trying them on and walking in the store, if it doesn't feel good, don't buy it just for looks and hope "to get used to it later", try more pairs until you find something that both looks good and you can easily dance in.

Jailed for not wearing underwear?

This is not funny:mad:
We should close this thread as well, since everybody are on strike to close any threads :D and this is out of my hands and Vorpal's hand.
Bobsmyth you are not a good example for my children. Shame on you, If you have any question don't ask.

Thank you.
Because I showed up a month ago and I was totally ready I am so ready and have no stress about it.
I kind of liked the idea of being prepared for it a month ahead of schedule and melt the stressful time.
As soon as I come back tomorrow, I will give you guys an update.

I hope July people get something really soon, everytime I go online and see your signature hasn't been updated with good news I feel bad.
BTW, thanks for being around all the time.

Peace.

PS, Dear poster sorry to scratch your original post. Lets move back to clothing issues :D

Yep, I saw that post with Vermont. That was a good one.
Questions are really easy (would be funny if I fail tomorrow) and I don't have anything carzy on my file unless IO doesn't speak english and interview requiers sign language then I don't know how to say Patrick Henry :(
But, I should say I am happy to get done with this!
Thank you guys
