Need for a stronger support in US Senate/Congress

Few days ago, I came across this article that keeps on blaming "Indians from India" for few job losses. It may or may not have been true. Frustration does mean permission to say anything in public.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Get a job in your own country. I have had enough of foreigners crying for jobs in our country. We do not need h-1b NOR L-1 work visas! We Americans need jobs FIRST!

I was displaced after I trained Indians(from Indian) to do my job. Lisa Vaas at eWeek recently did an excellent article on our displacement. http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,3959,809079,00.asp

Actually, our entire department, over 20 Americans, at Siemens ICN, Lake Mary were displaced using the infamous L-1 "intra-company transfer" work visa. What I call the Congressional "American worker replacement program". We were mandated to train our replacements(Indians on work visas) before we were laid off. Here's how it works, Tata Consulting India transfers employees from Tata Consulting India to Tata Consulting USA. These so called "consultants" are then sold off to American businesses, Siemens ICN this time.

The same thing happened at JP Morgan Tampa, except Tata Consulting was thrown out for incompetence, replaced by another Indian firm Congizant. I am not certain about the actual visa types at Siemens Automotive & Energy Atlanta, GA but I do know they replaced their American staff with Infosys "consultants" (another Indian replacement company), most probably L-1 visa holders. But does it really matter? Americans lost their jobs in THEIR OWN Country so FOREIGNERS could work in OUR Country!

Think about it? Foreigners
1. can come into our country
2. to take our jobs(while management mandates we train them)
3. and send their kids to our schools
4. while we're sent to the unemployment line
5. and OUR CONGRESS voted for this
6. Congress voted to put Americans out of work so foreigners can come to our country and take our jobs

Yes, under the L-1 visa they can bring their families to our country and send their kids to our schools.

MY PROPERTY TAXES pay to send their kids to our schools while we are sent to the unemployment line! It really burns me up every time I think about it. Downright amazing that our congress would do something so corrupt as this. They take my job then I pay for the foreigners kids to go to our schools!

There are no salary constraints and absolutely no caps on how many can be brought in. With the "Blanket Petition" they can put in one petition to the INS for an entire planeload of foreigners that take American workers jobs.

You can read more about my displacement and the displacement of the JP Morgan staff in Tampa at the following links.

http://www.hannatroup.com:81/USA/ta...ht_20020901.htm

Is this what our country is about? Putting Americans out of work so foreigners can work in OUR country. AND WE PAY PROPERTY TAXES SO THEIR CHILDREN CAN GO TO OUR SCHOOLS!

Congress has gone too far with their visa programs. More Americans need to know how far our congressional members will go to get that corporate campaign money.

If real Americans truly knew how these work visas were destroying the lives of American families they would immediately demand these "replacement programs" be shut down!

Try and understand the meaning

Key Kallirus or whoever you are...I am a hardcore Indian and the only reason I put this article on the forum was to tell fellow Indians what these frustrated Americans think of us and themselves.

If you read the entire postings on the website, the laid of worker goes on saying about his proud heritage and that if Indians work 18 hrs a day, it means that they dont know their job etc etc.

Before responding in a hasty manner, first try and fathom the context and the content. I know USA means Immigration. Greenspan himself has said that the economic growth is attributed to the growing immigration population. This article is for everyone to understand the shallowness and frustration of a 'hardcore' white american male. The accusation that he has made against indians from India are baseless and someone from TCS needs to take legal action for putting their employees names on that website.

You can't even read the name properly and asking us to understand your meaningless post? It's good to know that you were opposing the article. Well.. your post was misleading. Need for a stronger support in US Senate/Congress ? for what? 99% of your post (according to you it was taken from somewhere) is talking against immigrants. You should have been more specific, saying... this is why we need stronger support in senate. From your post i bet if anyone knows what do you want to accomplish. if you were supporting it or against it. We have been a few controversial posts in this forum by some anti-immigrants.

By any means.. who cares if some guy has posted this article in some paper. No one knows it until you have posted it here(in other terms you are giving it free publicity). People in this forums are already struggling with enough problems. Don't terrorise them by this kind of postings.

This is not to offend you but to let you know the mental state of people in this forum. Hope you will understand.

Thanks

Its cheap labor practices, plain and simple! One american is equivalent to 10 cheap indian workers. More profit for these greedy companies... so they don't mind putting an american out of work just to earn more...

Kalluris u need to read and understand

The purpose of that article was to inform fellow Indians on what's happening on anti-immigration front and not to terrorise anyone. Some meanings are to be implied. Indians lack political advocay groups and support in the Senate as well as Congress.

Look at the hispanic groups and the support they are getting even if they do not earn as well as Indians or are not well educated.

If you think its a meaningless post, then you are also living like Americans thinking in only one direction - like rectilinear propogation of light.

Guys,

My feeling is that INS should actually evaluate and issue L1 visas for only a specific amount of time - say a month or so.

Don't you all ( H1 holders ) feel the same that these greedy companies ( TCS, Wipros, Infys, Cognizant's ) from India are not only sucking money out from the economy here but at the same time are actually paying less than any H1 holder.

Actual reason for these companies to get L1 labours is that they don't have to pay the wages equal to the H1 wages and moreover they can ask them to go back immediately.

I'm either for reduced L1 period or wages for L1 and H1 be at par. No matter where and which company you work for.

Just my opinion....

This phenomenon is continuing throughout the world . It is not just cheap but intelligent labour . Look at Europe too . Germany has an unemployment rate of 10% , but they still support green cards for Indians . In order for the economy to grow , during tougher times , stringent measures are taken and that is why L1 visas become quite common . HP is laying off a large number of people and moving all its testing operations to India and China .
The government understands it . If it were not for the smart immigrants in the past where would this nation be . Now that the immigrants are here they want to keep the others out . HOW IRONIC.

Haripatti is just putting out the article for review . I don't understand why people are after him . Read the context first

This article doesn't surprise me at all. I believe it is only a matter of time before angry Americans start looking at the L-1 the same way as the H-1, and for companies to use the L-1 to get around the restrictions on the H-1.

However, there's a significant difference. The L is used by all of the largest American multi-national corporations to bring people in from foreign countries at every level. Multi-national corporations need to transfer talent into the US on a temporary basis, and that's exactly what the L is for.

There is no way in any of our lifetimes that the L will be restricted or abolished. Do you think a bunch of lazy unemployed programmers will be able to defeat the combined clout of Ford, GM, Daimler-Chrysler, Coca-Cola, IBM, etc. etc. etc? Absolutely not! The coca-cola campus here in Atlanta is crawling with foreign execs and skilled workers here on L-1s. My own employer (a Canadian firm) imports dozens of people down on L-1As and Bs, and it's critical to their operations.

You may, however, see restrictions placed on the L - like the prevailing wage requirement (which makes sense) but I doubt you'll see a numbers cap or a $1000 "training fee"/tax. This affects the biggest corporations in the US - which is why H-1Bs are restricted, and L-2 spouses can work.
