Here's the situation. My friends (a couple with 4 month old baby) lived here illegaly since 1998. Now they are facing deportation and the husband is in detention center in Harrisburg, PA. The baby is a US citizen. Are there any ways for them to start the case and try to stay in US. Do you know any strong lawyers ain Philadelphia or around? Piece of advise would be appreciated!

Based on the limited information you provided there is little hope for them. Asylum might be open.

It is up to the adults. They can ask friends/relatives in the U.S. to take care of the baby. Or the baby can go home with the parents (and then come back when she is adult). Many families make this hard decision every day thanks to unforgiving immigration laws. What your friends are facing is not unique.

yeah. They can apply asylum. If not, they can take the baby with them or leave it with one of their relatives. My cousin born in New York. and he only been to U.S once (last year). but he'll be back once he get 18 and claim his citizenship. YAY! I'm not alone anymore ... :)

the baby can receive a welfare money from the american embassy in the home country of your friend

Are you sure of this? Should they apply at the embassy of their country?
