Hello,

I am currently going through the naturalization process and hope to get my USC in a few months. While I wait, I wanted to get ready to apply for my wife who is currently in India (I got married in year 3 of my GC so we have been apart for 2 years and it's really getting very tough for us).

I wanted to ask the members here on what I should do while I wait since I want to apply for her as soon as possible.

Question 1

I see two types of applications,
a) Immigrant visa for a Spouse of a U.S. Citizen (IR1 or CR1)
b) Nonimmigrant visa for spouse (K-3)

I am not sure which is a better choice. Where can I find more information about these two?

Question 2

My wife is from Iran but living in India for the past several years. I have a marriage certificate from Government Of India. I have kept a lot of documents proving my ties to her, travel tickets and photos etc. along with other documents like the money I send to support her.

What else do I need to have in order for applying for her. I am an Indian citizen.

Question 3

Do you know any good lawyers who can take up my case. Preferably someone who has experience with a case like mine - because my wife is from Iran.

A1: Stick with IR1 route
A2: Your list is more or less complete
A3: I really do not see a need for you to need a lawyer just because she is Iranian
