The interview was quite simple. IO was very friendly.
We went to office 30 min early. Security took our appointment letters, checked bags and let us inside. My appointment was at 11, but was called in around 11:30. There were very few people in that waiting room, atleast couple of them trying to memorize the civics Qs.
IO basically went through the application. I asked for name change ( infact last name spelling correction ), and two speeding tickets. IO asked for just Green Card - no other documents. I took Federal returns, marriage certificate, birth certificate/affidavit. He stopped few minutes at travel dates to calculate number of days I am out of US, which are really less than 90, from 3 trips. Finally asked to write my corrected name on photo, asked me to sign. I do not remember how I signed - but one form I signed with full name and one the usual ( cheque ) sign. Asked me to read a sentence " I drive a blue car to work" and asked me to write simple sentence ( forgot what it is ).
The six civics & history Qs asked were
1. How many stars are there in our flag ?
2. Who is the President of the United States today ?
3. Who becomes president if both President and VP die ?
4. Who was Martin Luther King Jr ?
5. Who was the main writer of Declaration of Independence ?
6. Name the benefit of being a citizen of the United States
Then said, congrats I am recommending for approval. He also said, he knows next interviewee is my wife and all she need to show is GC and know SSN.
To my wife he asked same civics and history Qs and said both of our Oath will be scheduled on same day. We asked for name change for her also, and she has one traffic tkt ( an accident but sighted for disobeying traffic control device - with 2 points ).
We still have name change to be done for my 2 kids, followed by rest of places, OCI. Some times I think if all this is worth approx $3k we spend on it.
