Naturalization eligibility Question

A quick question about naturalization:

We can apply for N-400 5 years from the "Residence Since..." (backdated 1yr from the actual approval date of course) date that is indicated on our greencards right? Is it also true that we can apply 90 days prior to the 5yr?

What is the source of your information? Is there any legal document or you know it from someone who posted here?

May be Gilbert can comment on it? He seems to be pretty legaly informed..

Gilbert ??

Does anyone know if it takes long time to process the naturalization application or does it depend on your state?

rik-tik-tak,

Sorry for this late reply. I just found your message now.

The easiest place to verify that you can apply 90 days (NOT three months) before you are actually eligible is page 1 of the instructions that accompany the citizenship application form (N-400)

I hope this helps.

Thanks Gilbert !!!

As always you are right on target. It's pleasure to have you on these forums. I will check out the information you refered to.
