Greetings to the old timers who remember me from three or four years ago. Time flies by and it is a real pleasure to see that this forum is still around (and doing quite well).

I just wanted to let all of you know that I recently got my United States citizenship. My asylum-based green card was issued in 2002 and I filed my N-400 petition last year.

I would like to know a lot of things..but right now i am thinking how long took all this process, I mean, for documentation and immigration forms, money to be cash, how was the interview, what kind of question did they ask you? anyway...let me think more questions and i will be right back...

I think the most concerned question is: 1. have you ever been back to your COP and renewed your NP 2. if yes to 1, then did that become a issue in your citizenship application.
Congratulations on your US citizenship! I can't wait for my turn, but still two years to go...
 
Gilbert, did you renew your NP and how long did it take to get citizenship from the moment you filed N-400? Thanks
 
As you know LazertheGreat, Citizenship doesn't bring peace to your life but you just feel that you have accomplished another mission in your life and definitly it's a good feeling

ehm I have sent mine on the 10/10/07, but haven't got anything. Which service center did you send? I was about a day early. I'm asylee, but applied n-400 based on married.

Did you get your receipt yet?

If you read my signature you see that I sent them to CSC + they have just received it today, I believe that Lolali (another forum member) has sent it about August 17th and hasn't received anything since then, even the check hasn't been cashed so I don't know what to expect.

How was the interview? Did they ask a lot of questions regarding your travel, especially COP? Did the question of NP passport ever come up? How about traffic citations, like speeding tickets? some people make a big issue whether to report them on your N-400.

I thought if you are in CA you have to send it to California Service Center. I didn't know you can send it to local? Do I missing somthing or this is because you are applying based on your marriage with US Citizen?

The instructions for the N-400 form clearly state that unless the traffic ticket is over $500, you do not need to list them.

In the N-400 application talks about "if you have been arrested" and vdostoi1 is right I didn't see anything about the speeding ticket.
Are you talking about the time of interview we have to show them copy of all the tickets? I believe when you go for fingerprint they will give you a list of all documents they need for the intview time from you.

The response to both questions in 1. was negative.

The examiner looked at the N-400 and saw that I had been to England frequently. She said jokingly you must be an Anglophile. She then asked what travel document did you use to enter the U.K. I said either a RTD or the RP. She then asked did you renew your national passport and I said no. Then we moved on to another topic.
 
Thanks for the quick answer. So the question and debate will remain on this forum for those who want or already went to COP and renewed their NP.:)
