Name got changed during naturalization interview

Prior to the interview, my name was legally changed so I have my maiden last name as my middle name and my husband's last name as my new last name. While being interviewed for naturalization, I was told that I cannot use my former last name as my middle name, as I "came to the US under that last name", so for the naturalization certificate, I will not have a middle name, just my first name and my last name. I said OK without asking why. When I went to the post office to get my US passport, I was told that the USCIS cannot change my name. Realizing how much hassle I have to go through (change SS name, driver's license and so on), I am wondering whether I can go back to USCIS to ask them to correct my naturalization certificate. Does anyone have similar experience? I am wondering whether this can be done (without me paying USCIS another big fee)? Thanks!

Do you have official documentation to show that your name was legally changed to put your maiden name as your middle name (i.e. a name change order or certificate)? If yes, and you showed that proof at the interview, that means it was a USCIS mistake to issue the certificate without your middle name, and they should correct it.

And when did you change your name? Before filing the N-400, or after?

I hope your name with USCIS hold good against all other, docs so be better speak with USCIS or an ASC near you , SSN and DL change may done faster but USCIS take time and more difficult.
