name check found pending from senator

thats what I was also thinking all these days. you just said it. how come FBI know anything about current or retrogressed ? very strange indeed. what a chain, DOL just clears what DOS wants and FBI clears just what dos wants ?

also, i am trying to establish a pattern between the length and diffrent places a person lives in the us and time take for NC, for me it appears like the more you move across the country and the longer you live in us, the more the time it takes to clear background check? does anyone know.

My friend who lived in the US for more than 8 years applied I-140/1-485 concurrently in April 2006 and got approval and physical card last month.
So his name check/BG checks got cleared very quickly even though he lived in the US for many years.

PD: Dec 2000 CA EB3
I-140 AD: Feb 2006
485 ND: Mar 2006, LUD: Jun 16 2006, Jun 17 2006.
EAD/AP: Apr 2006
FP: Jun 2006

I believe that he only lived in one state. But he applied a few weeks after me but has already received his GC last month where as I am still waiting. I've also lived in only one state. I believe that he was one of the lucky ones, nothing else.

I also went through same experience.
I was stuck in name check for more than 2 years.
I think asking help for senators and congressman to expedit name check won't help. At the most they can inquire FBI to get your status and that itself might help to bring ur case in open, incase it is hiding behind and no one is looking at it. But I seriously doubt senators will go extra mile to ask FBI to expedite name check. In many cases, name checks are stuck due to overseas inquiries, which means someone in your home country might be actually sitting in your query. In that case, FBI might not be able to do anything.
But if you have a GENUINE case where delay is affecting you personally, you can directly write a letter to FBI and explain your situation. This has better chance to expedite your case.

Does the FBI send enquiries to your home country? Never heard before!

USCIS informed me that my case is undergoing additional security checks; 15 months ago, I received the same status!

Is this additional security check part of name check or is it "additional" to that? Is there anybody else who is also stuck with this?

Name Check cleared doesn`t mean quick approval of your GC.
I just called USCIS-VSC and inquired about my NC status. A nice laddy said that everything is ok with FBI and case is pending `cause they`re waiting results from another agency, other then FBI. Asked about the dates NC was cleared, she mentioned that it doesn`t show on her screen.
