Name change on H1 Visa

Hello,

My visa was issued in my Maiden name. I am getting a new passport where my name would be in my married name. What would be the procedure to reflect this name change on my visa also. Is it advisable to do this?

In most of the countries, you will still be having the old passport (if not, you can request pointing the name change issue). So your fine. INS wise it will not be an issue.
 
Hi Jaxen / Others,

I am on H1 Visa and because of personal reasons I will be going in for last name change for me and my H4 dependents.

*Do I need to inform INS about the change in my name ?

*What happens if after name change I change job and go for H1 transfer, will the transferred H1 be in the new or in the old name?

* What will be its effect on Green card application?

No need to inform INS. You can apply for H1 transfer in new name. In GC you will have to indicate (I485 stage) the different names you used in your life.
