N400 filing

Is it is a U.S. Employer? This includes a wholly owned subsidiary.

Have YOU been inside the U.S. for any full one-year period since getting a greencard?

IF you can answer yes to both, THEN you qualify to file an N-470 (make your employer pay if you can). An approved N-470 will allow you to file an N-400 after you come back from your overseas assignment and you don't have to start counting over completely from scratch. Read up about that option. IF this scenario does not work for you then going abroad to work will likely be viewed a sign of abandonment of your greencard status. In that case at least get a fresh re-entry permit just to protect the LPR status.

See an immigration specialist.
