Hi everybody,
I am an LPR who has been physically present in US for about 3 years. i have an opportunity from my workplace to work abroad for a long term assignment (> 1 year). i am considering whether i qualify for filing N-470 or not. i believe my company qualifies since it is a US owned public company engaged in US foreign trade.
One of the requirements for filing N-470 that i read was that the LPR must be "physically residing in the United States for an uninterrupted period, without any absences, for at least one year after admission as LPR".
1. Are short vacations outside the US considered as "interruptions" in physical residence in US ?
2. I had taken vacations (through international flights) during my first 2 years since I received my green card. During the past year, I had taken a 4 day closed loop cruise starting from Miami till Bahamas and back to Miami. This is the only "international" trip that I have made this past year. Will this cruise be considered as a "interruption" ?
From what I read, closed loop cruises are not considered as departures for US citizens and LPRs. I presume that would mean that they would not be considered as "interruptions" as well ?
Can somebody well educated in this matter advice me ?
