I just got my N-400 denied because my "lack of good moral character". The immigration officer told me at our interview that I will receive my oath letter as long as I go deregister myself from being a voter within 30 days after the interview and send her the original documents to prove that. So I did exact what she said, and got a letter six weeks later that denied my N-400 application for "lack of good moral characters"!!! The reason for this it is because they said the documents I provided are computer printouts, but "computer printouts" are exact what I received at the Registrar of Voters office when I deregistered.
I'm being punished (maybe "insult" is a better word?) for telling the truth at the first place by check "yes" on the N-400 application where they asked "did you ever registered to vote" (this is obviously a very common mistake a lot of immigrants make, that's why they have a specific question for it. I don't know why the government doesn't do anything to prevent this issue). Than they denied my N-400 after I sent in the "original" documents like they asked me to.
My question to immigration and the government is that.............How you guys expect good moral characters from people when you punish them for telling the truth????? I paid my taxes, I registered for selective services, and I obeyed the law, but Noooooioooo, I can't register to vote even though it's a mistake caused by the government (DMV) at the first place. I contribute to the United States as much as most of the citizens in this country, and it seems like it is the only thing the government wants me to do.
Also, the postal office delayed the denial letter from immigration for a month. So I actually got the letter over a month after immigration send it out!!! I have entirely lost my confidents in all the government agencies except the IRS.
