N-400 interview before 5th year anniversary, is this going to be an issue?
is it still possible to have same day oath? thanks in advance.

Forget the oath they WILL NOT even approve the case on the interview day if it's not five years, that's what happens when you rush things and count days to apply under 5 year minus 90 day rule.
They are processing cases faster and you will lose more time if you do not reschedule your interview now.

Not necessarily. You're assuming that having interview before anniversary will result in a longer delay in obtaining oath than rescheduling interview for a date after 5th year anniversary. It's impossible to say what method takes longer as there are so many variables involved.

Rescheduling is normally 30-45 days, and not having five years on the interview date, the least time most people have reported here on this forum is 2 months, and if the OP is in a small DO like you know Durham, NC where you can walk in and ask to get rescheduled they even give out a day coming within two weeks.

Thanks guys. i went to DO and asked about the reschedule, they said, they have lots of applications on hand and it might take 3 to 6 month if i reschedule. they advised me to keep the current date

Go and do your interview. I was in the same boat with you, anniversary was 3 days from the day of my interview, did the interview, decision cannot be made and I am still fine and nothing happened to me. I recommend to all candidates that a little bit of patience won't hurt your ego, because patience will do you good and will help your growth as a person. Baltimore is much more efficient in scheduling and following-up on N400 case, look at Washington, DC thread to read the horror of people there.

Attend the interview, even if it will result in "decision cannot be made". Once you've done the interview, they have 120 days to decide your case or you'll get to file 1447(b). If you delay the interview by rescheduling, the 120 day clock won't start ticking until later.
If they make the mistake of scheduling you for a same day oath, point out the mistake to them and ask for an oath on or after your 5 year anniversary. You don't want discrepancies like that in your citizenship process to cause problems for you in the future. Even though it's very unlikely for them to revoke your citizenship for having the oath a few days too early, they can hurt you in other ways if they find that your citizenship was improperly obtained, such as not recognizing citizenship for your children or denying your petition to sponsor your spouse.

thanks, hey Al, did you receive a decision on your case? and oath letter ? if you did, how long did it take?
I am still waiting for the decision, not eating a panic pie at all. I am hopeful that it will be in the mail any day now, of which I will certainly share with you. As of now, it has been 9 business days since my interview and I can schedule an info pass just to be bother them, but that won't do me any good, plus I abhor driving to downtown Baltimore, too much traffic down there for my taste...lol!!!!!!!

my interview is on first week of December and anniversary date is 4 days after the interview.
You will have your citizenship for the Xmas holidays, don't worry about it... I strongly vote against rescheduling the interview, if I had waited a week, I would probably be a citizen now. However, life goes on...

As promised, I received an oath letter this evening, and I am schedule for Nov 19th, 2010 at 9am. So, it took exactly 9 business days since my interview, case approved yesterday and mailed on the same day.
