Has anyone given a friend's address in the N-400? I'm going to be traveling for 2-3 months and have given up my apartment. During the interview can I be questioned about my residence? As such I wont have any lease documents.

Additionally, can one travel internationally between the interview and the oath?

Thanks!
R

It's fine to use it as mailing address, but not as place of residence if you never resided at that address.

Yes, you can travel between interview and oath as long as you don't break continuous residency.

The N-400 requires the following:
Home address AND Mailing address: I guess I could put my friend's address in the mailing address but what about the home address seeing as how I won't have an apartment lease right after I apply?
Will USCIS be alerted if the home address is different from the mailing address?

Your home address is your place of residence. If you aren't maintaining a home/apartment and then leave the US, it can be seen as a break in residency.
Where will you reside when you return?

Why are you giving up the apartment if it's just a 2-3 month trip? Is this an isolated trip, or is it the first step of a long-term relocation abroad?
