N-400 and Property Tax

I have filled N-400 and am ready to file. I see that the N-400 asks about Income Tax Return. My Tax Returns are current and up to date. However, I am behind paying Property Taxes for my house for the current year. I was supposed to pay in Sep 2010 but behind in payments. I do not see anywhere on N-400 about the Property Taxes that I need to pay to the City/County. Needless to say I will pay in coming few months.

Does this affect my application for Citizenship? Can I file N-400 now with delinquent taxes?

You'll have to answer YES to owing local taxes on N-400 (Part 10 question 5). USCIS can delay or deny your application if you have outstanding property taxes. The current economic conditions is not an excuse not to pay taxes for USCIS.

IMO they are referring to local income tax not real estate tax. I would answer no that question, and to be on the safe side will answer NO in the interview again after clarifying with the IO that this question refers to local income tax.

The question on N-400 doesn't specify income taxes, just taxes. The purpose of the question is to weed out those you have ignored paying taxes altogether.
