Hello
My Wife's GC was approved today (Mine was approved in Jan). I wrote to USCIS with the supporting docs and it did the magic, I believe.

Although I have a question, this is the message from USCIS :

**********************************************************

The following is the latest information on your case status

Application Type: I485 , Application to Register Permanent Residence or
to Adjust Status

Current Status:

On December 6, 2005, after approving your application, we ordered you a
new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.

**********************************************************

Do we have to get the passport stamped (I-551) ??

Or has the procedure changed??

As a precautionary measure I have taken a infopass (Boston).

Also she is travelling to India on Dec 22......How would it be affected??

Any advice is appreciated.

Many thanks

Congrats....

Since you said your wife will be leaving to India soon, its better to get her passport stamped. It may take from few days to few weeks or even months to receive plastic card. Don't rely on that.

congrats!!!, if you could share the your PD,Category,Country...

Mine was a labor subst. (PD 1998 ). From India, I140 was approved in Aug 2003.

Although my question is , do we have to get the passport stamped.....in order to get the card.

Also my wife is travelling via london.....so applied for the DAT visa.....Would the approval have any effects??

No, they've already ordered the card. In the past, the stamping started the card issuance process, but this changed back in late 2004 iirc. If she wants to travel in the next 2-3 weeks, getting the stamp might be a good idea.

Ordering a card doesn't mean that it will become ready soon for delivery.

It may take days/weeks or even months to send the card.

Thats why I suggested to get passport stamped keeping in mind that she is going to travel soon.
