My interview today

Hi Guys

My wife and I had our interview at the Atlanta USCIS. Our dates are in my signature. The 485 was transferred from TSC to Atlanta DSC on August 9.

Our case was a bit different than others because we did not have our FPs done. Last week Atlanta case officer Z.A called my immigration attorney and asked us to come down for an interview on October 7 (today).

The first thing I noticed was that even with appointments, you have to wait in line outside the Atlanta CIS office to get in. But thankfully, we reached there well ahead of our interview time and got in with time to spare. We waited in the area outside Room 287. The officer then called us into his office.

Our attorney was with us and he knew the officer and joked around with him, so the mood was relaxed. The officer focused on my wife's case and asked us for bonafides of our marriage. We gave some wedding photos, drivers licenses showing same addres, wedding invitations, marriage certificate, joint bank statements, utility bills, credit card statements, rental lease agreement, joint tax returns. He remarked that in our case, perhaps some of the information from my file went to my wife's and vice versa. He also said that some of the clerical stuff was not done. That seems to be what triggered the interview call.

From me, he just wanted my college degree certificate and a recent letter of employment (I work for the same company).

After that, he gave us our FP notices. The whole interview did not take more than 20-25 minutes. We then drove up to the Buford Highway ASC and got the FP done within a couple of hours.

We'll now just have to wait for the FPs to clear and hope that it leads to approval soon.

I posted this on the Atlanta center thread over at the VSC area as well.

I hope you will get the approval very soon.
Listen my case was transferred to houston on Sept 6. I have changed jobs, no longer work for the company that applied GC for me. The employment letter will be critical. The sample that attorney had sent me contains all sorts of "sponsorship" committment from the employer. I am not sure if it is required. Do you mind to share a sample of the employment letter.

Hi,

Thank you.

Unfortunately, the letter is with USCIS now. I only had one copy so I cannot tell you the exact verbiage.

What I can tell you is that the letter did NOT have anything stating sponsorship or that sort of thing. It just said

This letter is to verify that xx continues to be employed as an xx specialist (current title is xx Manager) coordinating client projects and interacting with all levels of client organization for implementation of.....

And then it went on to say the salary etc.

Employment letter - help please

In my labor clearance, alien occupation was mentioned as software engineer. My labor was done
for Programmer/Analyst post. But in my H1B extensions and all, it was mentioned my post was
mentioned as programmer analyst only. My current salary is approximately 20% lesser then what
is mentioned in the labor clearance. I am with the same company which is processing green card.

I have received a interview invitation which is asking for current employment letter. I have
received one from my company through the attorney which says like this :

"This letter confirms that our company has offered full-time employment to <name> in the
position of Programmer/Systems Analyst at the salary of <amt>/year. [This is followed by
company background ]

My questions are :
1. Is this letter fine? This letter is not mentioning anything about my current employment
although I can show my recent pay stubs.
2.The salary mentioned in the letter exactly matches what is mentioned in the labor. Is it ok?
3. Already my H1 says programmer analyst only. Will it be an issue during the interview because
for the same post I will be getting higher salary all of sudden?

Please share your views.

This is exciting to watch. I was stuck at VSC when they basically stopped processing I-140s altogether from 9/1/2000 to 5/1/2001. All of a sudden, the floodgates opened and it was so exciting to watch the approvals rush in every day. I didn't get approved for almost 90 days after they started again, but seeing it gave me hope, and hope is what we all needed.

Same thing here..... the logjam at Atlanta has been broken and it's good to see. Hopefully no one will have to suffer what I did.

Friend, but here is my weird situation. I received FP but never an interview notice. My RD is 08/2002 and folks with RD of 09/2002 and 11/2002 have received their interview notices. I just haven't got one yet. Am not sure, why I am not inivited for the interview, just yet.

When was the FP taken? You might want to do an InfoPass appointment and go down and ask about your case.

FP-10/05 and Infopass on 10/06

I had my FP on 10/05. FBI processed the FP results and passed back to INS on 10/05 as well. I had taken an Infopass appointment at 10/06. The officer at customer-service after staring into the system told me that my file was received at ADO on 09/28/2004. That was very surprising to me as my file was transferred to ADO from TSC 11 months ago!! And ADO had sent me a letter saying that they have updated my house address 10 months ago. That being the case, the officer's reply that my file reached ADO only 8 days ago was baffling. When I raised it, she was irked. And she told me that "the files are not in one location and they need to come from different locations. As per the system we received yours only on 09/28. Yours looks good and as soon as somebody will issue an interview notice, you will be all set to go. The very fact you have got a FP means somebody is looking into your case."

That is what she told me. Though, most of it is known to us, the only benefit of this appointment was to make sure that there wasn't any postal loss as I had originally feared.

Still having my fingers crossed.

poongunranar,

Your approval is on the way. Just a few more days at most.

That fact that the file is physically present the the ADO and hey've issued your FP bodes well. Li'll more patience and you'll be through.

Have not heard from Atlanta District Office

Hi guys,
My I 485 was transfered to Atlanta district office on 23 June 2004. My ND/RD is 29th April 2002. As ADO is currently processing June 2002 applications, I was wondering why I have not heard from them (No FP or Interview). Please let me know whats your thoughts on my case or how can I follow up with ADO.

Thanks

Pramod_Atlanta -- I am here as your companion..

Pramod_Atlanta:

Please do note that, unofficially ADO has started winding up applications with RD - 08/01/2002. In fact, RD 11/01/2002 will be having their interviews on 10/27/2004 and 11/01/2004. So, whenever ADO issues next update, you will see the RD jumping up pretty swiftly.

That much said, you must have received FP at least. I got my FP, but never an interview notice. I have walked to ADO at least two times.

You can file an Infopass appointment and walk over to personally ask them what is wrong in your case. This way you can rule out any postal loss(as has happened to some unfortunate cases in this forum) and can hasten your process.

poongunranar,
Thanks for your update, But I have not even received my second FP yet, My first FP was done in April 2003, I guess that is now expired. Even my Advance Parole did not get approved until September 2004 which I had initially applied in Texas Service Center in March 2004 before my case got transfered to ADO on June 2004, I had to personally go to ADO with my lawyer and they gave me the Advance Parole on the same day. Now I see the same thing happening to my I485. My only concern is if they have sent my case to FBI for name check because I guess in that case my application approval may take another year or so, do you have any idea on name check issue ?

Thanks

Pramod_Atlanta

I also had a problem with my AP when it was transferred from TSC to ADO. They didn't approve it after the date had passed. I called 1-800 number and pat did the ADO approve my AP. When I asked the officer at ADO about this aspect of it during my first InfoPass appointment she told me with frustration that TSC transfers even AP for interview and ADO never interviews AP candidates but just issues them AP.

However, for I-485, mine is just similar to yours. I am not sure if it has to do with the FBI name-check. If Name-check is the only reason for us not to receive Interview notices, why do they not issue interview notices for our cases just as others and then wait for the name-check to be over?

Your FP has expired. You MUST receive new FP request from ADO. It seems to me that they haven't laid their hands on your file at all.

Only after my first Infopass appointment, I got a FP notice in my mail. When I went on this first visit, the officer clearly told me that nobody has even laid their hands on my file. After this visit, I got my FP notice in mail. The next time I went on a second appointment (after 1 month from the first appointment) the officer told me that they just received all my files and that if I got a FP it means somebody is looking on my file.

Hope this helps.

poongunranar,
Thanks for the explanation. I have taken appointment with ADO on 29th October. I will update you once I talk to them.

Thanks

Received Status Update from ATL - Sep 2002 processing date

I received a shilly-shallied status update via mail from Atlanta District Office. Per this communique, they are currently processing AoS applications with RD September 2002. This is past my RD of 08/02 and they have checked the status option that reads, "you will be notified by mail when further action has been taken on your case." Not even the option of, "Your case is awaiting review(), documents(), background checks()," is checked, which leads me to believe that everything is over, yet, ADO is just not ready to call me for interview. Weird.
