My green card expire while waiting for decision, what to do?

OH yeah that's where I went today, it is the closest one to me.

I'm actually surprised with a called to the USICS customer service just now, I was transfered to a 2nd level officer and the lady was REALLY NICE to me. She said they don't do the stamp on the green card anymore, just on the passport. She also said that it shoudln't take longer for ATL send me the letter with the outcome of the case, said that because of the holidays they were a little backed up with paperwork. She adviced to apply for I-90 JUST for the DL purposes but the citizenship and green card will probably cross ways ha! She said that if I don't apply for the renewal of the GC I could take my expried GC to the oath because I applied within the 6 months period. Also advised to apply for my Cuban passport and get a stamp on it, but I told her that it takes too long =( same thing I told the guy today. Anyway, I gues I will donate $380.00 to the USICS and go on with it and see what happens. All I worry about is my DL, like I said before =(

I guess with New Orleans you could since they are a DO and a ASC too, like for my case, I was fingerprinted in New Orleans but processed in Atlanta for the Citizenship Interview. People from New Orleans are fingerprinted and Interviewed there, I guess they help with fingerprinting in cases like mine that I'm in SOUTH Alabama, closer to NEW ORL.

They have a consulate in Washington DC, but the passports are made/handled in Cuba so they have to go there for that etc.

Intersesting is it called "Interests Section". The US counterpart in Cuba is called the same thing.

It seems both are formally part of Switzerland Embassy so both
countries use Switzerland to take care of their inerests.

If you file the I-90, how will it help you? Because without a valid passport*, they won't give you an I-551 stamp for the I-90 renewal, so you're still stuck for 3-6 months until you get the renewed GC itself, unless the DMV will renew your license based on the I-90 receipt.

*others have managed to get the stamp with an expired passport. But USCIS is consistently inconsistent.

Yes Jack exactly my thoughts! The Green Card and my passport will take the SAME time to get, so my plan is.....RENEW CUBAN PASSPORT hopefully it takes 2.5 to 3 months (my mom just got hers in that time frame) while I wait for my decision. I just read on the Alabama license website that there is a 60 DAY grace period that you can drive=valid after the expiration date on the DL, so at least I have another 60 days on my benefit there. I don't drive much so that's a plus. So hopefully I get citizenship approval before Feb 7 or before 60 days after that. What a mess, I really didn't think this was going to happen, it is my fault I know that but now that I'm in this situation all I can is the right thing....wait ha! Hopefully the 2nd level officer I spoke to yesterday is right and I will have a decision very soon =)
