Multiple I-485/CP applications

Folks,
My wife recently filed for I-485 with her as the principal applicant and myself as a dependant.
I recently received my labour approval. Wanted to check if its ok for me to file for AOS or consular processing? In this case, my wife would be the dependant with me as the principal applicant.

In my wife's case, her company is not in the best financial state.
So to be safe, we reckoned it would be a good idea to pursue multiple applications. But my immigration attorneys have discouraged this. Wanted to get your take on this.

********** when you file your I-485 write your A# on newI-485 and your spouse should write her A# on her newI-485( your A# is on your I-485 filing reciept and her on herI-485 filing reciept)

Thanks for the responding to my questions.

Still waiting on some clarification from my attorneys on why this is not a good idea.

Given that my wife has already submitted her I-485 application, how will we update the A#?

-------------- your wife has submitted I-485 and she might have got the I-485 filing reciept check the A# on the I-485 filing reciept and she need to write her that A# on any application in future.

My wife's company's financial condition is iffy. Want to be prepared in case the company goes through a reduction in force while the application is pending

Nothing wrong, file your I-485 as primary and file your wife I-485 as derivative. you both can file EAD AP with I-485
