Moving to India after approved I-140

I need to relocate to India for family reasons. My I-140 has been approved, and my initial H1B visa is valid until August 2025. I would like to understand if there is any difference in moving to India before or after filing for my H1B extension? Additionally, is there a time limit within which I must return to the U.S. with the same or a different employer? Can I return after 5-10 years and use my unused H1B time and approved I-140 to file for an H1B with the same or a different employer?

The answer depends on if you are quitting your H1B sponsoring company and then moving to India. If you plan to returning to the US after 5-10 years, then you should not be worrying about your unused H1B time since the H1B clock gets reset after 6 years. If your I140 is approved, get a copy of the approval notice from your employer if you plan on recapturing your priority date in the future.
