I just thought I would update you all on my USA plans. About a week after I handed in my notice, my company offered me a transfer to Boston. There may be a chance for me to relocate to DC later on.

So now I am leaving for the USA on the 15th of September. I will be moving to Cambridge, MA. I am really pleased as I have to say I do like Boston, and I also have a job to walk into.
I wish every one up for interview in October the best of luck.

-Alexis.

And I am guessing that you are Irish. Perfect place then. Great food, lots of Irish pubs, and friendly people. As a Bostonian, let me welcome you to our area.

I am very lucky I know! I Just got my benefits pack today, my god the benefits for the USA employment are off the wall! It will take me hours to trawl through it all. I seem to be very well covered for all my medical / dental / vision benefits, I have a 401K plan which sounds like a rocket, but is actually some kind of retirement plan, My company will match the first 3% of what I put in. so I think If I put in 10% really 13% will go in. Also some other thing call a flexible spending account MAX ($2500)?? What ever that is? There is some other crap too, I have 17 days vacation, + 9 public holidays, and my vacation allowance will rise to 22 days after another 2.5 years of service.
I think I got a good deal to be honest. Salary is fantastic.

I am gong to spend the money I saved up for the DV interview on a nice BIG BMW when I get there in two weeks to celebrate :)

Good to hear :)
Will come for a beer next year :)

You will have to let me know when your in Boston!! Definitely buy you a beer. ;-)

That is for medical expenses that are not covered by your plans. It is deducted from you income before taxes.

Hey what job are you doing? I want to apply a job before i go for interview too due to i don't have sufficient fund and no support. I'm working in IT now in Malaysia. Please guide!

TKFOO84, I have never really lived in the US before so I am not sure what advice I can give you. I was just lucky to get an internal transfer so I did not even need to apply for a job! Decide where you want to live and start looking at jobs for that area. that’s what I had been doing.
