Mother's I-94 expiring on Feb 22nd - filed for extension but not approved as yet

Stagore
Please understand the following.

1. Visa is a previledge NOT A RIGHT!!. A visitor is a guest and he/she cannot demand that they spend x months. Whatever the host gives as "stay" is what a guest has to live with.

2. As mentioned before, extensions should only be applied if there are circumstances beyond control not a means to just extend one's stay for lame reasons.

BTW people are not having any personal agenda's here. You have a forum like this to freely discuss information and get advice and NOT to tailor answers to one's liking. If you feel offended by the TRUTH and don't like to hear what u wanted to hear, please stay away from a public forum.

Hi stagore,
You do not know or act that you do not know what contributions chennai 123 and triple citizen have made in this forum. What they have pointed out is to have a proper planning so that the extension request is minimised to the bearest minimum. Instead of appreciating their stand, you abuse them because you voilated the stay given at POE. Very bad indeed.

It was not my intention to question people's contributions to the forums (I am not a frequent visitor here) but if I have done so I apologize.
The point I was trying to make is that the overstay is in the past (and there is nothing I can do to change it). All I am trying to do is get factual information on the potential pitfalls of applying for a new visitor's visa. I appreciate everyone who took the time to respond. I did object to getting painted with a broad brush because there were no games played with the length of stay (all told with the overstay my mother was in the US for 3 months) - the I-94 was given for only 2 months because of the passport expiration (not checking that the passport was expiring was definitely a huge mistake) and the officer at the POE himself suggested getting a new passport and then filing an extension

In any case, we have to do what is needed and see how it goes. Thanks to everyone and it was not my intent to set off a flame war here.

I took no offence, so there is no need to apologise. Keep us posted on the situation. I hope your mother gets a fresh visa and is able to visit you again.
