Hi Everyone,

I have asked Rajiv to remove me from being the moderator, and make 140_takes_4ever the moderator instead. He seems to be very keen on how the forum should be moderated, and has a few good suggestions on how this job should be done.

I do care about this forum and everyone on this forum. I do hate INS with all my heart. And if my being a moderator is in any manner harming the spirit of this forum, I'd rather not be.

Rajiv has invited suggestions from everyone, if you feel you have something valuable to contribute, please do. Remember, this concerns YOU, so YOU Need to talk.

PLUS ALL OF THIS has an added advantage, me not being the moderator, I can talk about J.Lo as much as I want .. HEHEHEHE :D ... but then 140 would delete my messages .. wouldn't that be cool?

hey SM,

You are always a doing a good job and keeping this forum alive in the times of distress and when there was nothing to discuss with INS freeze.

I dont understand why 140 is acting like this, and I would ask u not to take it personally.

I wish you would continue. you and PCEE are doing a great job on this forum.

I agree with RM_CSC. Though I don't usually speak, I do check this forum several times a day and I think you have been so helpful in every aspect.

I don't like what they posted about you and don't want to see those kind of postings in the future.

Please stay here and continue as a moderator.
 
Blindly supporting Silly Man as the two previous posters have done is not that helpful and fails to address the concerns expressed by some of the members of this forum.

Silly Man is an asset to this board as a source of information and as one who tries to lift our spirits when times are tough (and when aren't they?) but as I moderator I have my doubts. Unless a post is racist or abuses another member of this community I don't think it should be deleted. If a thread is spam then it should be locked so no new posts can be added. No one should have the power to dictate what is OK to read and what isn't.

The moderator's role should not be to decide what we can and can not read. One of the founding principles of this country is the freedom of speech and this implies the freedom to read and the the right to make up one's own mind. If access to information is limited then we all lose the right to decide for ourselves.

Silly Man doesn't necessarily have to resign as moderator but, if he stays, I think he has to re-evaluate his role as moderator and work more closely with the community.

Please keep SM as moderator as

J. Lo needs some time without SM.

Everybody needs some private time with J Lo and it was a blessing that SM was out of the queue for J. Lo .:D

Shantanu .. FINALLY you show up. Naw, being a moderator is nothing like captain. And I am neither the best batsman. That'd be PCee, but he rarely plays these days. He'd be a great moderator, considering he never speaks bullshit.
 
I would prefer that neither 140 nor SM moderate this forum. Infact no active (hyperactive, I might add) member with vested interests (like me, wating for AOS) should moderate.

The thread that needed to be deleted was that "gulti" thread. Racist, blasphemous and foul threads are other candidates for deletion. All these can be reported to the moderator by users. If a few users (or a percentage of the users) report the thread, the moderator can
1) ask to stop postings to that thread
2) stop the postings to that thread or
3) delete that thread in that order.
at his/her discretion.

Sorry to see SM and 140 on unhappy terms. I am sure stress is partly to blame.

Wait it out guys. People on this thread blame each other for emotional outbursts and immaturity. I used to post on this site and people have called me immature, that I bark, that I am racist etc.. So I reduced my postings and now I see that I should not be too harsh on myself. Everybody is the same.. whether it is a gulti thread or a moderator related thread, everybody gets into mudslinging.

If I remember correctly you were the main contributor to that gulti thread. It just ups the tension in this ethnic crowd. What was started in good humour degenerated into ugliness.

"mud-slinging" that SM and 140 are being accused of is atleast not for racial or ethnic reasons. They have a difference of opinion and are going at each other (I didnt see 140 accuse all punjabis or something of that sort).

It was good of you to remove your posts to that thread before some brilliant guy copied it right back.

Agree with Neeru here. Atleast this is not racial/ethnic harrassment.

But also would like to say that difference of opinion should be voiced 'differently' or more 'decently'.

Its sounds very strange but true. This sounds like Politics.

We DONOT care *who the moderator is*. What matters most is the language.

SM, 140, Vipsha these are all just names to us. We don't know who these people really are. And these names are not even your original. Nobody is gonna call you by that name when you pass by, anyway.
Why should somebody steal the credit and why should somebody grieve to have the credit back? Who cares whose name is on the thread anyway?
As far as I am concerned I come here to check 485 issues.
SPAM is a SPAM and should be deleted based on some critirea already mentioned above by some of the members. Does not matter if the member is a moderator or not.
Everyone was writing in English. Bad Language is bad, no matter who uses it.

SM, 140 contribute a lot to the forum +vely inspite of their so called "jokes" (quote : telugu thread & divorce thread ). You guys provided enough entertainment.

I would say take a cue from how PCee and Kashmir contribute to the forum "selflessly".
There was a thread sometime back calling silent members selfish. Can't stop myself from wondering of "selfless" active members!!!! again, not underestimating the amount of work you guys do. After a few years if you all look back this whole thing would seem very silly!!!

The one who is on BENCH kind of thing qualifies most for Moderator .. because he has to go thro.. all postings.. and

remove the crap posted by people like me :D:D
