SM and 140

Hey guys,
What the hell is going on! Our CA-i485 community is doing just fine.

You beer-buddies aren't serious about those emails involving Rajeev/moderator-ethics/other BS - are you? OR

Is that another way of kidding each other?
 
Independent1971, sad as it may sound, we are serious.

Atleast on his side we are. He's being a kid. This is so retarded, we are fighting over a website, and quarelling about credits in names like "Silly Man" or "140_takes_4ever". . I have no problem segregating this matter out of my life, and learn to disagree with him on this, and still get along. But I don't think his thoughts echo this. (Not so far atleast). I've seen a bad attitude in him against me since the Gulti thread.

This matter however is being discussed amongst all Moderators/Rajiv, and we will come up with a better strategy soon.

If that doesn't make 140 happy, y'know this site is for his benefit too, and he needs to realize that. If his bad attitude prevents him from taking advantage .. not much we can do.

I'd really really like to see him here. But I don't want the whole site to change against everyone's wishes for one member. We had a poll that HE setup with HIS words, and even that supported the moderator's decisions. I feel we should do whatever the majority and Rajiv decide. And if he has a problem with that, we need to move on.

Wat u say?

You be being the most active member in this forum, please do not continue in moderator role. For some reason it doesn't suit you that well.
 
timesa, lets do what Rajiv suggests. Being a moderator isn't that big a deal, as long as it is a passive role. Mostly this forum doesn't need moderation, but what it does need is lesser leg pulling.

Thanks nell and gc. Nell, I am still friends, but he isn't. So there. Anyway like you said, more things besides this in life, and you couldn't be more right.

However, it is great to see you hang around this board even so much longer after your approval.

When I started browsing this forum, there were some silly messages from ids like forevers.


Let me remember.. one of them.....emmmmmmmm

it goes like:

"I almost speak for entire comunity of csc. We do not accept UR.. bla bla ......"

At that time , I thought who the heck is this.. so immature FELLOW.. assuming hemself as owner of vacuum ..

just like indian street dogs demarcates its boundary area by urination and bark at other DOGS ...:D:D
 
Shantanu, I agree with you, even though I donot want to make a direct attack at 140.

Anyway, there are quite a few mature folks on this board, like PCee, Kashmir, and Tasse.

Anyway, I wanted to bring out a point about the twisted poll 140 posted. The options he has given, the wordings are so skewed.

Here are his options,

Do you support arbitrary deletion of threads based upon a single users discretion? 32 38.10%
Do you feel that threads should be allowed a natural death based upon, lack of interest? 31 36.90%
Do you feel people should be allowed to comment on the thread? 2 2.38%
Do you feel a thread should be deleted after a quorum demands its deletion? 19 22.62%


How about if we change the options to,

Do you believe in letting the moderator do his job and trust his decisions?
Do you feel that threads should be allowed a natural death based on lack of interest along with moderator intervention in offensive threads.
Do you feel that we should have an impractical vote for every single deletion candidate thread, so all we see on this board are votes telling the moderator what to do?

It's all in the words, I don't think that poll is fair .. but I LOVE to see that inspite of that .. the common opinion is more or less expressing faith in trusting the moderators judgement.

You have been quite open in expressing your opinions for quite some time in this forum actively and have been helping people in this forum as well. But since you are the most active guy here in expressing your opinions it doesn't look good for you to continue as moderator. We don't want to see different SillyMan as a moderator. Please don't continue as a moderator somebody like PCee should be moderator.
 
shassan, here is the issue. Rajv sent a lot of people an email about who would volunteer to be a moderator. No one replied, that I am sure included PCee.

I did, and mentioned in my reply that " I would love to help this community, but whether or not I have the maturity to be a moderator is your call".

I don't think PCee has the interest or time to be on this forum so actively anymore, and y'know he has done so much, I don't blame him for it. I value every single message he posts, but if he wants to get along with his life I can understand that. And when I say that, I mean PCee and others like him too.

If PCee volunteered to be moderator, I would let him be in a heartbeat, and I CERTAIN Rajiv wouldn't have an issue with that either.

About me being the same .. trust me, I will be. :) .. just give it time.
 
I see no problem in asking Silly Man to be himself, and talk about J Lo, or whatever he desires, and to have him as a moderator in the same time. Silly Man keeps the forum and us alive. We should be happy for this. There is anyone else who thinks he can replace Silly Man, and do a better job?
 
Deletion of thread by moderator MUST be his sole discretion

Otherwise :
By the time U wait for many to vote ( delete / not ) all people might have read the matter.. and lost its sanity....
( Just like some Indian controversial movies... bythe time court bans the scenes.. many people might have already peeked :D:D)

Lack of interest .. means death.. It s a natural phenomenon.
( A bad product will automatically be out of shelves in market)

Forum is meant to express their opinions.. moderator is there to take care

If people ask for deletions.. then it should be. If 3 or more times such request come - then delete the moderator :D:D

If many people really do not want a person to be a moderator .. they know the means to make him out :D:D

Who the **** died and made you spokesperson? Some people above have made some good points regarding how a forum doesn't need to be moderated, and SM, while being a jovial person most of the time has also shown himself to be too emotional and impulsive. While tantrums may be allowable as byproduct of frustration, they certainly aren't pretty in a moderator.
My opinion, and mine only shantanuB, is that SM should take into consideration most of the sugestions above and learn to moderate constructively. Its a good job that he's been doing if you forget all the shit he pulled this past week. I liked most of his postings myself.

SM, put this behind you, I'm sure this has been a learning experience for you, so do learn from it.
PS: Guess you ppl too have no plans for the weekend huh. Same here fellows. Boo hoo, I got nothing to do!:mad:
