Dear friends,
I am one of the DV-2013 lottery winners. Mistakenly, and out of excitment, I gave all my dv-2013 details to a friend who lives in US, e.g. the confirmation number, date of birth, full name. Now I realized that I should not have told him all this. Is this a serious matter, and can my friend create a problem for me? I don't trust him anymore. I have sent my forms to KCC, and after 5 weeks, they tell me that it is not showing on their computer. I am really getting nervous. Please help me!

Looking forward to your replies.
Thanks!

Very strange! Since getting the 'response' from KCC have you tried rechecking your status from the Selectees Notification Page? If you haven't, I suggest you start from there. There has been no cancellation regarding DV2013 that I'm aware of, if you showed up as a winner before, you should still show up now. I suggest you reprint your notification letter with the bar code and email KCC (attach the notification letter) and request an explanation of the previous 'response' you got. Remember to include your full name, date of birth and selection number on the email.

Goodluck!

I checked the notification, it still tells me that I have been selected for furthur processing. I think you didn't get what I meant. I meant that, is telling somebody about your dv lottery details, e.g. your confirmation number, case number etc would create problem with your case. Can that person do some mischief with your case, since he can check your case anytime he wants, that's what I meant!!! I sent the forms to KCC more than one month ago, and KCC still does not confirm whether they have received my forms or not? That's the point of concern to me, why is it taking so much time to process my case?

Thanks!

From what I've read elsewhere on this forum, Kentucky does not send you confirmation that they received your forms. The courier or delivery service will notify you when your forms have been successfully delivered to Kentucky - did you get such a confirmation from whatever company you used to mail your forms?

When I called Kentucky late last month they told me they were being inundated with applications - almost a thousand every day! They told me to call them 4 to 5 weeks after the delivery service said my application was delivered because they would not have the time to get to mine until then.

As far as your friend ... since I haven't gone through the process, I wouldn't know what sort of mischief he could get up to - perhaps someone from last year could answer that. It's all done online now, I suppose it's very possible he could do something nasty if he wanted?

Thanks for your time. Yes, I have received the confirmation from DHL courier service. It has been a month since I received the DHL confirmation, but I called KCC. They say I should wait for two more weeks. As far as that mischief thing is concerned, I hope my friend doesn't do anything. I don't know whether a mischief can be done or not? Even if he does have correspondance with KCC, he wouln't be able to do it from my email address which is in KCC record.

Oh I see. Now I understand :)

I really don't think there's much mischief this friend of yours can do with regards to your application except having the ability to monitor the progress by logging in with the information you've provided him with. Like you rightly noted, any form of direct emailing from KCC (if there is one) will go to your email address which they already have on record and which this friend of yours has no access to (I assume?). Plus they also have your pictures on file, both from when you originally applied for the DV Lottery and from when you mailed in your DSP and DSS forms (not unless you and this friend are carbon-copy look-alike), which makes it most likely impossible for this friend to file as you. So I would say wait for about 2 more weeks before contacting KCC again regarding receipt confirmation.

Now, I could be wrong in my assumptions, so anybody with a different opinion should please help out.

Thanks for your wonderful explanation. I think I shouldn't panic and wait for two more weeks. I will let you know when I get the confirmation from KCC.
Thanks again for your valuable time!
Best of luck!
