Mexican TN Renewal by Mail

Hi,

I know there are already a few threads on TN renewal by mail, but my impression is that they focus on the process for Canadians. (If the process is exactly the same, please do correct me.) I have a few questions I hope you can help answer:

1. To renew by mail, can I be the one sending the forms, or do they have to be sent by my employer?

2. As a Mexican, I need a TN stamp on my passport; when and how would I get the stamp? (I believe I am not supposed to mail my original passport with the renewal request, so will I still have to go to a consulate/embassy if I leave the country after the renewal is approved?)

3. How long is the process? My current TN expires in June and I have plans to travel to Mexico in August. I know I'll be OK if I mail before June, but should I be worried about not getting an approval by August?

Thanks for your help!

1. You can send the forms, but the employer must sign.
2. US consulate in Mexico
3. You will need approval before leaving US if you want smooth consular visa renewal and re-entry process
