It was one of those memorable days both weather wise and ceremonially speaking. This was the day I have been waiting since a long time to get naturalized. The oath ceremony was in the great CANNON Center downtown in Memphis. The band, the judges, the friendly USCIS staff (finally) were all ever helpful and made the ceremony a very memorial one. I was almost in tears during the emotional moment. My appointment was at 8 and the ceremony was at 10. Reached there by 8.15 and quickly handed over my oath letter and green card. Had some coffee and quickly headed into the hall where we (about 250 citizens from 41 countries) all were arranged in a sequentially numbered order. The band played, the judges spoke, new citizens took their oath, stated their name / country, got the certificate and out of the hall at 11 or so.
I found an answer to a very popular myth. Yes, you can make a copy of the naturalization certificate but not a color copy. But ouch, the post office guy punched a couple of staples in it when I went to apply for a passport. Now the next move is for the more painful OCI.
Good luck to all.
