Medical exams 8 years before GC???

Sorry to post this in two threads.. but I´m anxious... I´m on F3 GC through CP/Brazil (my USC father filled on Sept/2007) and I received a letter:

"This office is ready to begin final processing of the immigrant visa applicant (s) named bellow in this case. We have scheduled an appointment for a visa interview in the Immigrant Visa section on the date printed bellow.

Please see the enclosed information for further isntruction about the medical examination required for all intending immigrants...."

So... Is this normal processing? Me and my family do all the exams, vacines, pay the $400 each fees, bring all the necessary documents and THEN WAIT MORE 8 -10 YEARS for the visa become current?? Is that correct? 8 years from now I´ll not have to get new medical exams, new police documents etc?? They ask to bring a 8 month (not years! :D ) valid passport... is that a joke?
That´s where I´m lost. I was expecting this interview to be scheduled like.. 5 to 6 years from now.. What next? Just sit and wait PD?

Thanks

The letter clearly says that office is ready to begin final processing, meaning very soon you would get visa, therefore medicals has to be done, normally it has validity for 15 months. BTW why do you think you have to wait for 5-6 years ?

because F3 for rest of the world is stuck at June 2000 now. His I-130 was filed last year so it is supposed to take at least 6-7 years for his PD to be current.

May be he has other I-130 which was filed before and actual PD is much older ?

Please don´t give me hope that maybe the GC can be ACTUALLY close....
If that´s true that would change my life and my future plans... :D well pls GURUS of this forum is there ANY chance that I can get a GC for my family in F3 in ONE YEAR? PD is SEPTEMBER 2007 that´s for shure.

Is there any other F3-CP cases here? If it does please tell me when did you get the Packet 4 and did the exams, interview and more important HOW LONG after doing all that did you get the GC?

White,

How is the normal process for my type of visa with CP? When do they schedule the interview?

was there any family based petition filed before this I-130, priority date of which you are carrying forward. You might want to call consulate and confirm this or you can call National Visa Center to verify, as you said is this some kind of joke or error. process is pretty much self explanatory, get medicals, police clearance, vaccinations, personal interview and visa stamp

I´ll do the exams, pay the fees and do the interview, and hope that some miracle happened and my family and I can get a GC in only 1 year of wait that would be SOOOO great. :D

What's the rule to those born abroad with at least one US citizen parent BEFORE 1986 ?

Read it with a little grain of salt since it's Wiki~

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_nationality_law

Through birth abroad to one United States citizen

For persons born on or after November 14, 1986, a person is a U.S. citizen if all of the following are true:[4]

1. One of the person's parents was a U.S. citizen when the person in question was born;
2. The citizen parent lived at least 5 years in the United States before his or her child's birth; and
3. At least 2 of these 5 years in the United States were after the citizen parent's 14th birthday.

A person's record of birth abroad, if registered with a U.S. consulate or embassy, is proof of his or her citizenship. Such a person may also apply for a passport or a Certificate of Citizenship to have a record of his or her citizenship. Such documentation is often useful to prove citizenship in lieu of the availability of an American birth certificate.

Different rules apply for persons born abroad to one U.S. citizen before November 14, 1986. United States law on this subject changed multiple times throughout the twentieth century, and the law as it existed at the time of the individual's birth controls.

4. December 24, 1952 to November 13, 1986

If, at the time of your birth, both your parents were U.S. citizens and at least one had a prior residence in the United States, you automatically acquired U.S. citizenship with no conditions for retaining it.

If only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16. There are no conditions placed on retaining this type of citizenship. If your one U.S. citizen parent is your father and you were born outside of marriage, the same rules apply if your father legally legitimated you before your 21st birthday and you were unmarried at the time. If legitimation occurred after November 14, 1986, your father must have established paternity prior to your 18th birthday, either by acknowledgment or by court order, and must have stated in writing that he would support you financially until your 18th birthday.
5. November 14, 1986 to Present

If at the time of your birth, both your parents were U.S. citizens, and at least one had a prior residence in the United States, you automatically acquired U.S. citizenship with no conditions for retaining it.

If only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least five years, at least two of which must have been after the age of 14. You don't need to do anything special to keep this type of citizenship. If your one U.S. citizen parent is your father and you were born outside of marriage, the same rules apply if your father established paternity prior to your 18th birthday, either by acknowledgment or by court order, and stated in writing that he would support you financially until your 18th birthday.

But that doesn´t has anything to do with my case because my father lived only 7 year in US....
I was searching other embassies and I found this:

And there you have for F3, 1996 through 2006 PDs.....
