I will be applying for my wife's 485 in next few weeks. It needs a medical exam; and I called the doctors from USCIS website they told me that she needs vaccinations and it will be around 500 to 800 dollars and also she has to take a blood test that will be sent to lab and will be additional charges--it is for communicable disease test -- I had mine six yrs back and paid 200 at that time,. are there more tests for women; how many vaccines does she need to have,,, one of the doctor here in iowa was only accepting cash....

they only accept cash.you will have to do what ever they say because if you skip any vaccination you will get an RFE.that is what you don't want to get trust me.
as for the cash i don't think is up to $800 but you will spend around $500

Get a second opinion. I wouldn't trust the docs farther than I can throw them.

I would get a second opinion , you can price shop.
Also, sometimes your insurance will cover some of the costs, like the blood test.

I would look around also my husband went for his exam and we paid $375.00 and that included everything.

I paid $150. Went to my primary physician for vaccination ($40) as i have insurance.

If you have insurance use it for vaccination.

I would recommend to call all USCIS listed doctors in your area to check their prices.

Sometime it is tough to get quick appointment.

There are only two doctors in this town and both of them are around 600 to 800 dollars...both the doctors are not in my insuarance network; so it is not going to be covered by insurance....what type of vaccination they need and maybe I can those ones from primary care physician

Most of the USCIS doctors don't work with insurance. I am referring two doctors here.

MUST 1) USCIS doctor : This doctor will perform all necessary test. This dcotor may also have vaccination and xray lab but sice it doesn't come under insurance,,it's gonna be huge bill.

If you have insurance then go to your personal doctor to get vaccination + (X -RAY if PPD test +ve).

OPTIONAL 2) Primary physician i.e. doctor who works with insurance

Note: Only USCIS doctor has authority to sign i-693 papers and perform test like hiv, std, ppd....
Depending on your insurance for vaccination + x-ray only go to primary physican who is your personal doctor as they work with insurance.

Now some USCIS doctors don't want to loose money as applicant can go primary care physican for vaccination so they may mislead you that USCIS doctor can alone give vaccination which is b.s.

It's all business man trust me :)

I believe there are four Vaccination shots MMR1.MMR2, VARICELLA, TETANUS.

To make it cheaper... go to the USCIS doctor for paperwork and bloodwork. And get the vaccinations done by your primary care physician. I did the same. This may help drive down the cost a little ($238 for my spouse).

If you have records of prior vaccinations, that can reduce or eliminate the vaccinations you need for I-693. I brought records from my childhood days and university days and I ended up needing only one inexpensive vaccination.
