Meaning of case numbers? (New research and timekiller while waiting)

After about 10 case numbers searched USCIS blocked my IP (I suppose for no more then couple hours), so I had to contitue by adding cases to portfolio
so here are some

California SC case numbers (WSC):

Until tonight I thought that 002 in my case number meant LA DO and 08 meant 2008 fiscal year (that began October 1, 2007),

but apparently all it is is just a sequential number, because WSC*001 000 001 was last "touched" 10/22/2003

submitting your casenumbers would be big help (you can mask last 2-3 digits with XXX)

i dont think anything will help the uscis is like the Bermuda triangle..once u file ur days and years get lost and when u firgure out how to get back out(like when u will get the IL???) u get confused and go in a maze trying to escape.

I did this for a long time when I heard about the Fee rush and backlog 8 months ago.
I figuered that the number goes up base on the application has been entered into the system. But you find whole bunch of empty slots which number doesn't work.

Keep in mind this is USCIS not Microsoft.

The case number may not be useful in predicting anything besides number of appl processed in a day. At least that is what I think. Since each case is different and also DO handling times are so random, the case number data pool is very tainted to use it for any correlation with real life.
