MBI and Public trust difference

I came across a job posting requiring Minimum Background Investigation. I have done the Questionaire of Public Trust before. What is the difference between the two? Or are the two checks the same.

The job requires permanent residence. Can someone with EAD also apply with a minimum background investigation?

permanent residence is not equivalent to EAD. EAD is the weakest document you can seek job with unless you continue already established work with visa then you convert to EAD. It is weak because it is tied to pending application and could become invalid any second the pending application denied.
