The naturalization benefits data for May 2008 has been released on USICS website. The total pending naturalization cases is just about the same as it was last year and continues to decrease.

The change from last report is amazing. I think this is a vast improvement in processing of N-400. At this rate all the backlog could be eliminated in next 6 months.

Could it be that the USCIS is actually serious about eliminating the backlog? If it's true, I doubt they could do it in 6 months, but 12 months sounds like a reasonable timeframe.
