Married to American living in Canada. Can I work in USA?

The MCSE may not qualify but outside of that they are good certs.

I have vendor certs and a graduate degree (unrelated to computer engineering), and both have their merits. Obviosuly you can't compare most certs with a grad degree but the vendor certs have their place. Especially when clients ask you if you have them. I don't think any cert is BS if it increases your revenue. Actually many grad degrees are BS too. It's all relative.

The jist of what I was trying to say before was that you could have just said a vendor degree and not BS vendor degree which made you sound elitist.

It was not until your last post that you added the part about it being a BS vendor cert in the eyes of USCIS CBP.

That's a fair point, and for that I apologize.

I will point out, however, that the worth of an MCSE (and other vendor certs) has been the subject of significant debate over the years; there's a phrase called "paper MCSE" which refers to individuals that have received the cert without practical (or useful) experience. It's not new; we saw that back in the mid-1990s in Toronto where UI would pay for you to get a CNE (a Novell Netware cert) and we had a number of CNEs who came through who were not to be let near anything remotely important.

I am sure you do not fall into that category, but vendor certs have a poor reputation in the eyes of more than a few folks, and to USCIS or CBP they are utterly meaningless.

Yeah I mentioned that problem about the Canadian engineering community trying to squash the engineering title from the MCSE on the first page of this thread.

Maybe I should just drive into TX, tell them I jumped the border and speak nothing but Spanish and get instant status. Wonder how many people have done that in the past ? lol
