Married 2 months before the Interview

Hi there

My wife won the Dvlottery 2011, and we've got married at December (it's two months before the scheduled interview), we've sent the DS-230 for the husband to KCC, and they replied us that the case is scheduled for an interview, without telling us the current status of my WIFE, Now she has recieved the 3rd NL for the interview date/time.

What i want to ask is (Can I go with her to the embassy, and we have every required documents, or the Husband must have documents like the [beneficiary documents]

Any recommendations??

Make sure you have more than sufficient proof of a legitimate marriage at the interview, as this might be looked at suspiciously as a possible fraudulent attempt to get a GC.

I knew my wife more than 5 years, and it's longtime relationship, but when she got the Dvlottery i was not in the same-place with her so she sent the documents as Single, and I can't wait her another 5 years to join her there, so we dicided to marry and i've the Marriage Certificate, and the photos of our wedding (small party)..
Do you think that is not enough! because the mariage date is not more than 2 months?

Hi bro., i think two months is a much time and if your marriage is fraud, then you have nothing to be afraid of. You need to prove it beyond doubt, that you marriage is not arrainged kind of marriage. I have read in this forum, of someone who got married two weeks before the interview and was granted visa. I think he prostponded the interview because of the wedding. All you need to do is to have enough evidence. And if you have pictures of you outings and other pictures of you two before the marriage e.t.c. You can also read post of families that had gone through marriage type interview. Gudluck

It all depends on the consular officer, where it might be enough in the eyes and opinion of one it could be totally different for the other.
DV visas adjudication are heavily relied on consular officers and their opinions and their decision is final unlike a family based petition.
If you are not from a high immigration country then they tend to be a bit lenient.
Try to get more evidence of a legit relationship prior to DV, such as emails, phone records etc and proof of joint assets after the marriage.
Go well prepared, best of luck !

Hi bro., i think you should update your signature to enable the house know your case number, when you recieve the first and second letter etc. You go to setting on top right and give us your signature, so that it can be a lot easy for the member to advice you appropriately. I do not understand when you said 2nd and 3rd nl?? What do you mean?

Thanks for those who replied to US, and I can understand that (it's all about the Interview Officer for the CASE) thanks to namecheckvictim, Heavenborn, ovicity

I want to ask if I've Emails and Pictures (Do i take the softcopy in disk) or I print it, and if I print it (how can they make sure the emails are not written recently and photo are taken in dates perior to the marriage date)???

U are not allowed to go inn wit any hard copies or disk. Just print the Emails. The dates on ur E-mails cannot be altered, changed, or updated inrespective of the time and day u print it. As for the photos, just dont worry about dates on it. Just go with watever u av and let it be places like Beach, Eatries, Events, Shows, Familiy gathering Etc. Beloveth, go and get ur visa. It's urs already. Just av faith in God. They are humans and not Aliens. Just be confident. Best of luck!

U may get married at anytime inrespective of the time and date, cos they all know its ur right. Just do the following:

1) Fill another form and send to KCC via email and scan the attached the marriage certificate to them.

2) Send an E-mail to the embassy where u intend doing ur interview informing them of ur change of status and also attached the marriage certificate.

U must make sure u shuld be able to defend the marriage cos they bliv things like this are fraud. U must av lots and lots of photos taking btw u and ur wife. photos of the past while u were dating her ndnow after wedding. Be prepaired for alot of questions and drilling. One love bro.

Hi folks,

I have a very similar situation to bu3uuth actually.

At the time I was selected in the DV lottery we were engaged, but not married. I wrote to the KCC and they told me to just send them am updated Form DS-230 when we got married. We got married in late 2010 as planned. My wife and I then both filled out DS-230s (while on our honeymoon) and sent them to KCC.

We arrived home from our honeymoon to a letter addressed to me only, no mention of my wife, saying that the interview is to take place in Sydney in February 2011 (a few weeks from now). To date, there's still been no mention of my wife and no letter to my wife....

Is she supposed to come with me to the interview? Or will she receive her own letter and interview?

Any help would be appreciated!

cheers p

Hi ovicity, no I didn't attach a scanned copy of our marriage certificate - for two reasons - first, I didn't have it yet because it was only a week after our wedding, and second, according to DV instructions that I'd read I understood I was supposed to bring the marriage certificate (along with all other original documents) along to the interview with the Sydney consulate. Do you think that's a problem?

ps am not sure what you mean by 'try and update us with ur signature'?

@PeteInAustralia, I agree with u about going to the Embassy with ur Marriage Certificate, but u still av to notify KCC, cos that is where ur CASE is being decided. Ur data's and all information about u is with KCC nd not with ur Embassy. KCC will first update ur Status with them before it goes to the Embassy in ur country. Ur name and ur wife's name would av been updated and included in ur 2nd notification letter if u av giving them ur marriage certificate. That is the only way KCC will be convinced that ur marriage is not fraudulent. KCC will later forward ur new status to ur Embassy as married which u will later av to defend during the course of ur interview. Well, there is still hope, Just scan the marriage Certificate with u now and send it to KCC with a short note explainning to them why the Certificate came to them late.

As for ur signature, i mean try and update us with ur case number, the date u receive ur 1st NL letter, ETC just the way u c others in the house who won do their's. All the best bro.

@OKML, There's no way and its not possible to get another visa for ur wife after u av picked up ur visa as single. Ur CASE with KCC and ur home country Embassy had already been closed and concluded after ur interview. Ur wife will av to wait for 3-5 years to join u later in the US. I'm sorry, but ther's nothing anyone can do about that. Cheers bro and all the best.

Make sure you provide all the proof they you people were in relationship for long time. Now a days people marry just to get a green card. All the best.
