hi guys,

i am aupair with J1 visa here in usa. after my phone call with USCIS office about the 2 year home return rule which does not apply for me, me and my U.S. citizen bf decided to get married. but the thing is that he is U.S. Marine leaving on deployment to Irag on the beginning of April 2007 and he is comming back before Thanksgiving (my J1 visa are expired September 6). this fact complicates the whole situation with leaving and immigration process. can somebody give me some advice what to do? should we start an immigration process now or wait after his deployment???
please help

start it now, of course. Some offices process your application within a couple of months. You could have a conditional card before his deployment.

If, however, your interview is scheduled while he is still deployed, you may want to postpone it by writing and calling USCIS (make sure they get your info and reschedule). They should be quite open to such requests, USCIS and US govt favors the military, so it's a good thing. Perhaps, your husband will get some days off, I would in this case, schedule an Infopass appt, inform USCIS of his coming to the US, and request that the interview is scheduled when he is home. BUt let's not get ahead of ourselves.
