marriage photos

Hi

My wife and I just sent the i130 and i485 packages. We haven't really approached this so seriously, and now we're starting to realize how serious it is.

We had a... punk wedding. There was some make up involved, lots of tattoos, 3 live bands played, tagged walls... Our friend who has achieved international recognition as a photographer took the photos, and all in all it was fun. No offense to anyone but i don't think that i could have ever done a traditional wedding, and we're both proud of ours. However, i'm afraid that when a conservative goverment official sees these... not only are they going to reject the petition, but they are going to strip my wife of her citizenship or something. Humor aside, is it a smart idea to show something that is so unconventional or may even be considered rude?

We don't have many photos together up to this point. From both our phones, we were able to scavenge perhaps 10 photos where we're hugging and kissing and stuff or just plain posing. A few of them we got from friend's facebooks, and they are in low resolution.

We have a lot of photos though where we're in a crowd. Usually shows, but also a lot from our house (parties, bbqs). Sometimes we're both in them, sometimes it's just one of us with friends etc.

We do have some photos from restaurants, but it's usually one of us in it in front of a plate.

I presume that photos such as these won't be very useful for the interview. But i'm not sure what to do over the next few months. Do we always have to have someone taking pictures of us? Do we always have to pose together? Do we have to ask the waiters to take pictures while we cuddle up next to each other (i think that i've never done that in my entire life).

How many photos do people usually bring to these interviews?

Which one of you is the US citizen?

Regardless of what "theme" the wedding had, the marriage certificate (or lack thereof) is what makes a marriage legal or not. Bring whatever photos were taken at the ceremony and other snaps of you together. For what is worth, my AOS interview was held in 2003 and our adjudicator was not interested in seeing any snaps of ours.

There is no set number to how many pictures to bring. I'd advise you take the whole shebang along however have a few selected once ready to produce without having to waste the interviewers time searching.

Actually the photos of you guys in a crowd are even more important in my opinion than the other "posed" pictures. Those confirm that you guy actually do stuff together. The restaurant ones, not so much. You only want photos that you are both in, unless its one of you with the family of the other partner e.g. mother in law, father in law.

You should take the process seriously. It can become a long winding torturous road if the initial evaluation does not convince the officer your marriage is likely genuine.

Cheers!
