Does anyone know what are the repercussions of getting married before the Oath ceremony to a non citizen? What are the step I would need to take if I do get married before the oath?
Any help would be appreciated?

Thank you for your reply.

So, when i go for the oath, I need to update this information with them? Thats what I meant by the 2nd question.Would I need to take the marriage certificate etc to show the proof and I hope they don't defer the oath just because of it.

If for some reason the I 94 expiry date gets passed over by a few days before I apply for her, would the few days be pardoned?

Also, can I get the Medical etc done before the oath date? I am running short of time between the Oath and the expiry of the I 94. Thanks for your time.

Question 1 on the N-445 sums up what is required if you marry between interview and oath:

1.Have you married, or been widowed, separated or divorced? (If "Yes," please
bring documented proof of marriage, death, separation or divorce.)

If your wife's I-94 becomes out of status, you have up to 180 days to apply for I-485.

Bobsmyth, thank you for the tip. Very useful to say the least.
I am just concerned that they may further defer the oath ceremony for want of more information etc, if I do get married before.I have already waited so long. Can't bear to have an issue because of this.
Best wishes.

This 180-days time period would become meaningless/worthless if she would be an immediate relative (like spouse, in your situation) of a US citizen (in this case, you) on a visa petition. In other word, she can file her papers even 100 yrs later of expiry of her I-94 form thru marrying with a US citizen regardless of her overstaying status of whatever period. Enjoy...

Help Please

I had my final interview on July 2nd, 2009 which I passed. My finace and I are thinking of getting married tomorrow (mostly for insurance purposes). She is on a valid F1 Visa (student VISA) right now. Will our marriage affect her status, will it have any effect on my naturalization?

vatsa82, did you get married...

Did you get married before the Oath Ceremony? My fiance and I are planning to do so before his Oath. Let me know if it is not a issue. Thanks.
