Marriage after Chennai CP

I had my CP interview and visa approval end of August 2001 as Single.
I got married the first week of September 2001. I sent a mail to Chennai
asking for the procedure to apply for my spouse\'s visa. They asked me to
send a copy of the marriage certificate, copy of spouse\'s birth
certificate and OF-230 Part 1 to the consulate. I mailed the three documents to Chennai on Sep 21st. I sent only the SSLC mark sheet as a
proof of birth date. I guess that was enough for Chennai. The visa interview for my spouse has been scheduled in December 2001. This process
is easier than I thought. Hopefully they will approve my spouse\'s visa
after the interview.
 
POE

After sending my spouse\'s pkt 3, I entered US the same week. I did not
apply for change in the marital status on my visa at chennai. Just to be safer, I gave a copy of my marriage certificate to the immigration officer at the POE as a proof that I am married before entering US with a immigrant visa.

I did the same except I did not send Part 1 OF230. Can you please tell me how long they took to respond about interview. Did they sent your spouce a letter?.

Spouse\'s Pkt 3 was entered into their system on Oct 4th.

They sent a letter on Oct 4th saying they have requested a visa number
from DOS and an interview will be scheduled when visa is allocated.
I called them two days ago and found the interview is scheduled in
december. I have not received pkt 4 yet.

I did not submitted Packet 3. When I spoke to officer she did not mention any thing about it. I was thinking once you send a letter requesting interview for for spouse along with BC, MC and other documents they will send her Packet 3.

I am kind of worried now...
 
OF 230 Part 1 is needed for the spouse since it will contain both her

married name and maiden name. They need to do a FBI name check before
getting a visa number. Which consulate did you sent it? When did you send it. You can send BC, MC and OF 230 Part 1 again and follow up.

You can send the spouse\'s pkt3 any time. Even after coming to US. The only criteria is

you are married before you enter US.
Don\'t wait for them to send pkt3, you can download, fill it and send?

Received Appointment Letter for Spouse

I received the appointment letter from Chennai on Saturday.
It has my name and case number as Primary and just my Spouse\'s name
, date of birth and appointment date and time under Travelling Applicants.
 
What is the case number for your spouse? Same as You?

Hi,

I sent my packet-3 in July, got married in Aug, and
sent my husband\'s papers in Sug, as per Chennia\'s
suggestion. My interview was on Sep 28th, where
I submitted my husband\'s packet-3 duplicate again,
to make sure that they have it. The officer told
me that he will have an interview in December,
but I was not able to find my case number listed.
So I was wondering, it the case number for my
husband would be different? Please help if you
know.

The spouse\'s case number is the same as the primary applicant.

I had the same doubt when I submitted pkt 3 for my spouse after my approval. I thought Chennai would generate the case number for my spouse.
The case number is the same and is listed for December.

Hopefully your husband gets an interview in January.

Copy of my notorized employment letter which I submitted during my interview.
Original employment letter from my employer. (I am not sure if needed)
My last three year tax returns/transcripts (I am not sure if needed)
My last three month bank statements (I am not sure if neede)

Medical report
File Copy and Audit copy of IRS-9003 completed form

 I am also doubtful whether you need a new employment letter. I think you have to submit the bank statements or financial statements to prove the financial support for your wife.
