sidr,
May be I will try to answer some of your questions...I may be wrong...but let someone else correct it...
1) If you observe Priority date is your Receipt date...the day they received your petition(1 day after Mail date if you send it by Fedex).
Law says that you change 180 days after you filed 485...so in that context, this date might be critical. The counter might start from Priority Date. But they process your case according to ND of the receipt notice which subsequently becomes the RD for the 485 application( like what you hear in the AVM). Please correct me if I am wrong.
2) I don\'t think so...but people say if you call IIO frequently that might create problems. But I don\'t beleive that...they cannot delay your processing just because you are calling IIO frequently and after all it is Govt. organization and they cannot do that without warning you but the response of the IIO\'s might be rude and might misled you.
3) Better to go on that date....But if it is that emergency, I think you can reschedule with the Finger printing center. otherwise you won\'t achieve anything.
You will receive directly EAD, AP approvals and FP notice. And your attorney will receive 485 approval notice and/or RFE\'s and they might send you courtesy copy.
thanks,
