Lottery elimination may force State Department to give more visas to I-130 applicants and helps uscis approve quickly I-130s in the next few years. This is my opinion. What do you think folks? I know lot of us want to petition spouse or children after getting GC.But the processing time of I-130 looks discouraging.

What does lottery have to do with I-130? State department can't do anything, the U.S Congress is the one who has set visa limits. Nothing can force state department to do anything..they go by laws, they can't make laws as to what they think and what should be done.

Unless U.s Congress adopts another V visa, nothign will happen.

Actually this is quite possible. The only clarification is that Congress had indicated they wanted to cancel the DV-Lottery and utlize the 50K visa numbers for the family-based adjustments. Meaning, they would increase the number of visas currently allotted for PR immediate family. Although it would increase the pace a bit, I doubt the inpact will be greatly felt as there is a huge backlog out there. They are currently working on priority dates with Jan 2002 or earlier.

Incidentally, Congress is set to come up with a comprehensive Immigration Reform bill in Feb. 2006 with rumors they intend to eliminate the visa number requirements for immediate family members of US PRs. So if this occurs, we would be able to file concurrently like citizens do today.

This is the time to be writing to ur representatives and senators folks. Immigration reform is a hot topic and it will be addressed come the new year. Lets make sure the rights of PRs are not left out.
