(Layoff) Need advice

I am working on H1-B visa in a Non-profit organisation. Due to severe loss they are contemplating of laying me off pertaining to which we had a brief discussion today.

Since the interim (before I find another employer to sponsor/transfer H1-B) grace period is not a lot (10 days) and I am adfraid of getting out of status. They have shown some keeness in transfering me to perdiem.

I dont know if this is possible?

Please let me know about it and related options which would govern hastle free transition from current to prospective employer.
 
You have very limited option. If you find a another non-profit org no problem otherwise you will get your H1 transfer / can start work only from Oct 2007.

How you are going to maintain your status, F1 also a good alternative.
