Latest Citizenship Processing times for California

Re: Interview Notice

Did you go to the local office to find out or was it the Service Centre that you called ?

What does your attorney have to say about it ?

My case: PD 10/17/01, FD 2/21/02 still waiting for the interview notice. My attorney tipped me INS in San Jose office advised attorneys that it takes 4-6 months to get the interview notice after N-400 is submitted. Apparently, they talk differently than they walk. I spoke with INS reps a couple of times, and every time was told to wait for another 30 days.

I called their service center. My attorney has no better idea as to what to do...Has anyone else experienced similar delay? My wife's sixth-year H-1B will expire next month, she has applied for an extension but most likely it won't go through as she doesn't meet the criteria. It's very critical that I must get citizenship to help her on the employment eligibility.

Can anyone offer some good ideas on this, thanks in advance.

PD: April/2002
FP: May /2002
Interview Feb /2003

I had my NOA (notice of action) mail stating, too, that "evidence is missing" even though I had an application packet of 50 pages plus (with all kinds of photocopies, even ones that were not requested).

The mail that informed me of the interview date (which I received mid Dec. 2002) listed a few things needed (that were actually included in my application in April). So, I just got some more certified copies.

Oakland INS -- N400 Interview

Both my wife and I were scheduled for the interview. We were called in on time. The officers scrutinized our N400 application thoroughly. Asked us to write a sentence like " We like xxx". Two questions like whos is the Supreme court chief justice etc from the standard N400. The officers congratulated both of us and gave us a piece of paper saying We are recommended for approval. Was told the oath will happen in 4 to 6 weeks in San Francisco.

The whole thing was over in less than 15 to 20 mins.. Now will wait for that Oath letter. The whole time sequence

Applied July 2002,
PD Aug 1 2002,
FP Sep 18 2002,
Interview Notice recvd on Jan 26 2003,
Interview today Mar 28, 2003.
