Late Asylum Application

If an asylum application is filed late (after the 1 year time frame) and it was never brought up against our case in court, can it be used against us in an appeal?
 
you should ask a lawyer .

i believe the one year entry requirement is for people who apply for asylum through USCIS (asylum office)
