Land vs air POE for TN

I just booked a flight to try to get a TN at the airport in Vancouver, but heard from a friend's lawyer that the land POE would be better for getting a TN, and that the airport is not advisable. Is there any truth to this? I was originally thinking of flying there from San Francisco and driving back, but it seems like the car rental would be tricky and expensive. Thanks

If your case is solid, you should be fine in both places. With land POE, there's no stress of having to catch a flight. If you are in Vancouver, you can simply get it from land POE, enter the US, spend some time (few hrs) and then head back to Canada. You don't have to drive all the way to sfo

Thanks for the info. I asked this in another thread, but if I get denied TN at the airport, how long do I have to wait until I can return to the US on my valid OPT? Last week I was denied TN and they wouldn't tell me the answer to that question so I ended up staying in Canada for a few days, but could I theoretically return on a later flight the same day using my OPT?

Nothing is stopping you from re-entering a little while later...few hrs maybe? Of course be prepared for some scrutiny....

If you have a valid status, and are requesting a change to another status, which is denied (the status is denied on technical grounds, not you found inadmissible), you should be able to simply continue on your way, especially at the airport, since you have a waiting flight for you.

Last time I missed my flight because I said i would be a supervisor, so my TN application was withdrawn and I was found inadmissible at that time. Had to answer a bunch of questions after. I think this is what’s referred to as denied vs rejected, correct? They wouldn’t let me catch my flight using my OPT because the purpose of my entry was to get a TN visa. She tried to escort me to the United counter to see about a refund but there was no one there so she wandered off. It sucked!

Being inadmissible is not the same as having your status application denied(or rejected) on a technical issue.

I don't think you should have been found inadmissible (if the reason you gave was the only one), but that is the CBP's call. Your purpose of entry was to go to work, already authorized in one status. They may have felt you were at risk of performing unauthorized supervisory work on your OPT. It is a stretch to say you went from Trainee to Supervisor in such a short time.

You're right, just looking over the form they gave me: "Withdrawal of Application for Admission/Consular Notification" . They checked off "Application for admission withdrawn" and not "ordered removed (inadmissable)...". Reasons are that I did not have the required documentation, i.e what I would have needed to qualify as a supervisor.
Thanks for the info

TNs are not allowed to be supervisors/managers in any category. You need an H1-B to do that. So, essentially, you submitted a job description that is not eligible for TN.
