Hi,

Iam working for an US based company in ireland. Now they wanted me to move from irish office to US office.
They proposed 2 options
1) L1 visa -- As per their opinion they say its easy to process
2) H1 B Visa which takes time as the 2005-06 Quota is full.

As per my knowledge on these Visas i heard L1 is not secure and it wont be favourable to the Employee.
I appreciate if you guys can suggest me with the option i have to choose.

Thanks
Halaat

I do not know what "not secured" means
If you do not like to be on L1 for long run, you can get L1 now and come to the US, then you change your status to H1 once new quota starts. Your employer has to agree with this.

Thanks very much buddy.
What i mean non-secure is in any case if i have to change the Job its not as easy as H1 right??
I need your expertise to suggest which one u would prefer.

correct. You can switch employer with H1 provided you transfer it, but you can not do the same with L1.

I'd say h1 is better for a couple of reasons.
H1 has longer validity period than L1, H1 may be extended beyond 6 years if you meet some requirement on GC process(if you apply for it), you can switch company if new company agree to transfer your H1.

Bright side of L1 is your spouse(if you are married) can work with EAD based on L2 visa, which is not allowed for H1's dependents(H4).
