L-2 visa before completing Fulbright J-1 2-year residency

Hello,

I have been a J-1 Fulbright scholar (ended in 2004), and then I had a Postdoc under J-1 (ended in August 2010). I have lived and currently living outside the US for about a year and a half since I completed the Fulbright program but not in my home country. I still need to satisfy the two year residency rule.

My spouse has an offer for transfer to her company's offices in the US. If we accept she will be transferring under the L-1 visa.

Will I be granted an L-2 visa given that I still need to satisfy the two year residency? Once I get to the US will I be able to apply for and granted an employment authorization (EAD)?

Any input would greatly be appreciated. Thanks...
