Zdarova. I know one guy who stated in his asylum application that his house had been burnt by police and he said that the american embassy contacted the local fire department on this matter. Sometimes they do check those things.
how did applicant found out that US embassy contacted fire department? :) I dont think any enforcemnt has a legal right to give US embassy any info about Country.Except Goverment or Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If Police would have burned his house .Police would make sure there is no any records, evidence of Fire in Fire deparment believe me. ;)
You reminded me 1 funny experience with police :) (not in US).I had a ticket for a train and two police officers stopped me and requested my passport right before the trains entrance.I showed them my passport and everything was fine and they still didnt let me in cause they wanted a money. :)

I didn't tell you but there was some money also involved in the case I told you about. The fire inspector asked the family to pay him so that he will confirm the fact of the arson and he said that the american embassy was involved. You know how they make deals there :)

probably he had a stupid lawyer or his family didnt have money to pay firedepartment

Might be. At the same time not all aplicants get approved. Much depends on IO and IJ and the case itself. Before Real ID Act also much depended on which country you were from and the relationship between U.S. and COP.

You are absolutely right. It's one of the reasons why people try to escape those countries... ugly society with all the fascinating features
I think people who wants to apply for asylum should hire lawyer who knows life and laws of his country of persecution .

Most applicants cant afford a lawyer..i think they should issue temporary work permit or provide a free lawyer to asylum seeker.(as i understood this country can spend millions for freedom of other nations) :)
